Reception
Garter & Bouquet Toss
Two reception traditions: the bride throws the bouquet to single women, and the groom retrieves and tosses a garter to single men.
The bouquet toss and garter toss are optional traditions that many modern couples skip entirely. When kept, they're typically programmed back-to-back near the end of the dance set.
The garter toss in particular has fallen out of favor as feeling outdated. Common alternatives: an 'anniversary dance' (slowly inviting couples off the floor until only the longest-married remains, who gives the bouquet to the newlyweds), or skipping both entirely.
