    Place Card

A small card at each place setting indicating where a specific guest sits.

Place cards are placed on the table at each seat. They're necessary for plated dinners with multiple entrée choices (the meal indicator goes on the place card) and for highly formal seated dinners.

For non-plated meals, most modern weddings skip place cards entirely and just assign table-only, letting guests choose their seat within the table.
